ROLFING & THE MIND
We know that our mind influences our
bodies. To use the body to release the mind is simply a different
task. It has been proven that our psychological stance is related to our physical stance and that the two are irrevocably
linked.
As the Rolfing process allows for new physical options, the mind and emotions explore old
patterns. Fresh awareness and new decisions frequently come into being during and after Rolfing
sessions. Our minds are expressed through our bodies and greater range of expression in the goal of Rolfing.
Some specific symptoms
especially responsive to these
techniques are:
-
Dysthymia
-
Some forms of depression
-
Self-image issues
ROLFING & THE BODY
After even one session, you will understand that this is not a
massage. Massage seeks to relax and
replenish. Rolfing reorganizes and makes more sturdy and resilient.
Rolfing works with the body's network of connective tissue, the fascia, to release injury or stress induced areas of adhesion or thickening that hinder full physical potential.
Then, the body is free and more balanced in its own unique relation to resources available to meet life's physical demands.
After Rolfing, energy levels are usually
enhanced. Simply put, the ordinary tasks of daily living just take less energy when performed in greater harmony with the laws of
physics. Think of the wear on misaligned tires, for example, and imagine what proper alignment does for gas mileage.
Some physical symptoms that are especially responsive to Rolfing techniques are:
-
Chronic back and neck pain
-
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
-
Headaches
-
Scoliosis
-
Kyphosis
-
Stress Induced or Chronic Pain
-
Poor coordination
-
Some forms of chronic fatigue
-
Stress or trauma induced musculoskeletal disorders
ROLFING & THE SPIRIT
Spirits have been known to soar
after Rolfing. As an
experimental procedure, it moves
us toward greater integrity of
mind, body and spirit. As we
merge with ourselves, that
blending is a true homecoming.
